Custom Knives in Idaho — FAQ

What should Idaho buyers know about knife laws?

Idaho broadly allows owning and openly carrying knives of all types. Concealed carry of larger blades has restrictions, particularly for anyone under 18 and near schools. Most of our Idaho customers order hunting, skinning, and survival knives for the backcountry seasons. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which knives do Idaho customers order most?

Elk and deer country drives Idaho orders: drop-point hunting knives, skinning knives, and heavy-duty survival blades in D2 or high-carbon steel lead, with Damascus collector pieces close behind.

What knife laws apply in Idaho?

Idaho is extremely knife-friendly. State law preempts local ordinances, there are no unreasonable blade length restrictions for most knives, and open carry of hunting and utility knives is entirely legal. This makes Idaho one of the best states in the country for knife enthusiasts and hunters.

What Louis Martin knives are most popular with Idaho hunters?

Idaho elk and deer hunters favor our Damascus hunting knives for their edge retention on long backcountry trips. Our survival knives are popular with hikers and backcountry hunters, and our skinning knives are a go-to for field dressing large game like elk and bear.
